SALT LAKE CITY — A Beck Street restaurant was "pretty heavily damaged" by a fire Saturday morning, a Salt Lake Fire battalion chief said.

About 10 a.m. Salt Lake City Fire Department and refinery fire crews responded to reports of a fire and heavy smoke at Garage on Beck at 1199 N. Beck St. Crews arrived to heavy smoke billowing from the restaurant and a "deep-seated fire" mostly in the attic space, said Salt Lake Fire Battalion Chief Dan Walker.

The fire crews were able to make access to the building and get the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes. Occupants were in the building but were able to exit safely, according to Walker. The building was likely destroyed, he said.

No injuries were involved in the incident. The fire is under investigation and southbound Beck Street was closed for an hour for cleanup.
