MORGAN — One person died at East Canyon State Park when a vehicle submerged in the water, emergency responders say.

Morgan County firefighters and emergency crews responded to the scene at East Canyon State Park on Thursday afternoon. Department of Natural Resources rangers pulled the victim from the submerged vehicle and CPR was rendered.

Morgan County fire said crews worked to try and revive the victim, but the person died on the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released.

It is unknown at this time what caused the car to go into the water.

Morgan County fire officials on social media said they were able to arrive on the scene faster because of an increase in staffing with part-time employees being hired. The fire department is normally solely volunteer-based.

"Ultimately, we are getting there faster for you and your loved ones, which is truly leading to increased chances for a better outcome when it comes to EVERY call for service," the department said in a statement.
