SOUTH OGDEN — A Silver Alert that was issued for a South Ogden man missing since Wednesday was canceled Thursday night after he was found dead.

The alert was canceled just before 9 p.m. South Ogden police told KSL that James Buchanan, 77, was located, but provided no other details.

Friday morning, police released a statement that said Buchanan was found dead near the Weber River. Police say there is no suspicion of any foul play.

Buchanan was reported missing from the South Ogden Post-Acute care facility, 5540 S. 1050 East, about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. Police issued a Silver Alert because they were concerned about his safety due to his dementia.
