HURRICANE — Five people suffered serious injuries after a structure fire destroyed an RV-style trailer in Hurricane early Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to the blaze around 1 a.m. after they were notified five individuals were inside the trailer, Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue said in a statement. The residents were found on the street outside of the RV, several with "life-threatening injuries."

The victims included a woman, 26, and her four children, ages 6, 4, 2 and 1, according to Hurricane Valley Fire Capt. Tyler Ames. All five were treated and taken to the St. George Regional Medical Center.

The woman, the 4-year-old and the 1-year-old were then taken to Las Vegas for additional care due to their injuries.

Officials haven't identified the people injured, and Ames said he doesn't have any updates on their conditions.

The trailer was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, but it was quickly extinguished.

The cause of the blaze is "still to be determined," Ames said. "We're working on scene right now trying to figure out what happened."
