RIVERSIDE, Box Elder County — Police have identified the man killed in a head-on collision with a semitruck in northern Utah early Tuesday.

About 1 a.m., a 2015 Chevrolet pickup was headed west on state Route 30 in Box Elder County several miles west of Logan, when it crossed into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason and was struck head-on by a 2020 Kenworth semitruck, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

A 37-year-old man driving the pickup — identified Wednesday as Tyler Burgin of Mendon, Cache County — was killed instantly, troopers said. The 24-year-old semitruck driver was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

SR 30 was closed until about 5:30 a.m. while troopers responded to the crash. What caused the pickup to cross into oncoming traffic remained under investigation Tuesday.

A GoFundMe* page was set up to raise money to help Burgin's wife and seven children.

"From funeral expenses, gas, groceries and bills every little bit helps," Haylee Cunningham, Burgin's sister-in-law, wrote on the fundraiser website. "With a family of seven children, food goes fast. Other than the funeral expenses keeping the family comfortable will be their greatest expense."

Correction: An earlier version incorrectly stated the driver of the pickup was 24.
