MOAB — A fire at a Moab mobile home park on Sunday resulted in the loss of six trailers and the evacuation of the park.
No injuries were reported from the fire, but some people suffered minor smoke inhalation.
The fire started in a trailer at 1520 Murphy Lane in the afternoon, said Andy Smith, the Grand County emergency medical services director. When firefighters from multiple agencies arrived, they found multiple mobile homes fully engulfed in the fire.
While the fire has been put out, crews are working to clean up the scene, which could take several hours, according to Smith.
"The fire did start with a trailer but appeared to spread pretty quickly to bushes," Smith said. "That was our biggest concern was the spread down into our creek bed here."
A Bureau of Land Management helicopter was on scene in case the fire did spread, but firefighters stopped it before it got to the creek bed.
The Red Cross set up an evacuation center at a local bowling alley.
