KEARNS — A body has been found at the scene of a Salt Lake County house fire Thursday morning.

The Unified Fire Authority confirmed that a victim — a 42-year-old man — was discovered, along with the remains of a dog, at the home located at 4340 W. 5335 South in Kearns. The name of the victim has not been released.

Spokesman Patrick Costin said fire crews were called to the blaze shortly after 9 a.m. with smoke and flames coming from the basement and main floor of the house. Upon entering the home, investigators located the remains while looking for occupants in the house. Another person in the house was able to escape to safety.

No firefighters were injured.
