PROVO — A man caught fire and suffered critical injuries on Tuesday in a house fire, Provo fire officials said.
The incident occurred about 12:45 p.m. at 678 N. 410 West and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Provo Fire EMS Division Capt. Sam Armstrong.
The burn victim was transported to Utah Valley Hospital and later transported to Utah Burn Center in critical condition, Armstrong said.
Witnesses told authorities flames up to 3 feet high were coming off the man’s shirt.
The man inhaled smoke which burned his airway and he had a large burn across his chest, Armstrong said.
