SALT LAKE CITY — A vehicle fire closed three lanes of eastbound I-80 in Parleys Canyon Monday afternoon, according to officials.
A recreational vehicle caught fire at milepost 133 near Mountain Dell Reservoir, about 1:20 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol.
The driver of the motor home, a 37-year-old woman from Colorado, and another occupant, noticed an odd smell and smoke coming from the floor boards and pulled over.
After she pulled over, the motor home became completely engulfed in flames but no occupants of the vehicle were injured, according to UHP.
One lane of eastbound traffic was open and the three right lanes were expected to reopen by 3:30 p.m., according to UHP.

Shortly after Unified Fire Authority arrived on scene, a 21-year-old woman from Murray was checking her blind spot when she left her lane and rear-ended the fire truck with her SUV, authorities said. There was a firefighter standing on the back pulling hose when the car hit — UHP said the firefighter wasn’t injured but “it was a close call.”
The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries but wasn’t taken to the hospital, officials said.
Westbound traffic on I-80 wasn’t impacted directly by the crash, however it was affected because drivers slowed down to observe the scene, UHP officials said.
Troopers and firefighters witnessed several drivers filming the scene with phones or stopping traffic to watch the fire, UHP officials said.
Troopers urged drivers in a news release to put phones down and pay attention to following distance and wear seat belts at all times.
