Woman dies in Emery County house fire, officials say

EMERY, Emery County — A woman died in a house fire in Emery County on Friday, officials said.

Markette Eardley, 47, died in the fire, which took place just after noon on Friday, the Emery County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. The house is at 100 E. 300 South in the town of Emery, according to Emery County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janalee Luke.

The fire is believed to have started in the master bedroom of the house. The fire remains under investigation, officials said.

Fire crews from Emery, Ferron and Orangeville responded to the blaze.

Additional information about the fire, including its cause and the amount of damage, was not available Monday, according to Luke.
