EMORY, Summit County — The westbound lanes of I-80 have reopened after a semitruck fire about a mile east of Emory Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
It began when a Walmart truck traveling west on the freeway pulled over near Emory when he smelled smoke shortly after 1:15 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol officials said. Officials said the truck and trailer then caught fire and the truck and trailer were fully engulfed.
The fire then spread across the roadway and to the grass median. The fire didn't reach the eastbound lanes.
Here's what we now know about the semi fire in Echo Canyon:

The westbound lanes were closed to allow crews to battle the fire. Utah Department of Transportation officials said both westbound lanes of the freeway had reopened as of 6:45 p.m., but delays were expected in the area.
Summit County officials tweeted that the truck was carrying cans of ravioli and Spaghettios. No injuries were reported.
Editor's note: This article originally reported that the eastbound lanes of traffic were closed as a result of the semitruck fire. The eastbound lanes, however, were never closed, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
