SALT LAKE CITY — Interstate 80 was briefly closed just east of Foothill Drive due to a semitrailer fire Thursday night, officials said.

A semitrailer hauling sparkling water caught fire, shutting down both east and westbound lanes of I-80 near Foothill Drive, Utah Highway Patrol officials said via Twitter. Officials said no one appeared to be injured.

Officials with the Utah Department of Transportation estimated the road would be closed until about 10 p.m., according to the agency’s website. Eastbound lanes were fully reopened just before 10 p.m. Traffic cameras showed one westbound lane was reopened shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Further details, including what caused the fire, were not immediately given.
