MOAB — A section of state Route 128 reopened Thursday afternoon after a rock slide pushed debris over the highway earlier in the day, authorities said.

The highway reopened shortly before 12:30 p.m., according to Grand County sheriff's officials.

The rock slide happened near the Red Cliffs Lodge, located northeast of Moab Thursday morning, sheriff's officials said. Photos showed the rocks had covered both lanes of the highway.

Utah Department of Transportation officials said it happened about 12 miles east of the city.
