WEST WENDOVER, Nevada — One person died and another person was seriously injured in a Tuesday rollover crash on I-80 in West Wendover, about 3 miles from the Utah border, officials said Wednesday.

The crash took place about 5:20 p.m. near milepost 408 on I-80, in the town of West Wendover, according to an emailed statement from Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jim Stewart.

Two people were in a Cadillac Escalade that was eastbound on I-80, Stewart said. The car drifted off the left side of the road, and the driver abruptly steered the car to the right, he said.

The car then rolled several times, and both people were ejected, according to Stewart. The car stopped rolling on the south side of the road in a dirt shoulder area.

Lee Carmack, 33, of Everett, Washington, died in the crash. Shanlee Green, 21, also of Everett, Washington, was flown in a medical helicopter to University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. Neither person was wearing a seat belt, according to Stewart.

Investigators were still trying to determine who was driving the car as of Wednesday evening.
