DUGWAY, Tooele County — Crews are working to put out a roughly 983-acre wildfire Saturday night, officials said.
The blaze was reported about 4 p.m. on state Route 196 (Skull Valley Road) near milepost 25, according to Tooele County emergency manager Bucky Whitehouse.
The fire forced the evacuation of a ranch in the area before crews managed to structurally protect the home from being involved, Whitehouse said.
“A doser was able to clear a line around the property so the house was not affected by the fire,” he added.
No injuries have been reported.
The road was closed for some time but reopened about 7:30 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the Dugway Police Department.
Whitehouse said crews — including local fire crews, state fire crews and Bureau of Land Management officials — are expected to be at the scene until at least midnight.
As of 11 p.m., officials did not have a containment estimate for the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
