SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating three armed robberies overnight, at least two of which they do not believe are related.
Around 3:40 a.m., a man entered the Shell station at 4018 W. 4100 South in West Valley City. He showed the clerk a gun, demanded money, and then fled with a small amount of cash, according to West Valley City police.
The robber is described as a Hispanic male about 5-foot-5. He fled in a blue hatchback-type vehicle with California license plates.
Around 5 a.m., a Shell station located at 502 E. 2100 South in Salt Lake City was robbed, according to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Mike Ross.
The robber, described as a black male, 5-foot-5, and bald with a tattoo on the side of his neck, parked a car at a gas pump, then entered the gas station. The robber showed a gun in his waistband, demanded money from the clerk, then fled with some money, Ross said.
The robber was driving a Ford Focus hatchback that was possibly dark gray, Ross said, and was wearing a gray t-shirt, black pants and dark tennis shoes.
No one was injured in either robbery. Investigators from Salt Lake City and West Valley City compared pictures of the robbers and do not believe it is the same person.
Also around 3:40 a.m., Unified police responded to a robbery at the Rancheritos restaurant at 4735 S. Highland Drive, according to Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke.
Two males had entered the restaurant and demanded money.
One of the robbers had a light complexion, the other a darker complexion, Lohrke said. Both wore dark clothing and carried handguns. One wore a black mask, the other wore a gray mask, and one of them carried a green backpack.
The robbers fled the restaurant with some money. No one was injured. Police aren’t sure if the two men left the scene on foot or if they had a vehicle.
Investigators used police dogs to search for the robbers but found nothing.
Police don’t know whether this robbery is related to the two other robberies in the Salt Lake Valley early Thursday.
