Amazing staff help stressed mother

Anonymous

“My 8-year-old daughter contracted strep pneumonia a year ago March. She was transported by AirMed and had just been taken into the ER when she died for a couple of minutes. Scariest moment of this mom's life. The ER staff were amazing, the doctor actually sat and visited with me for a long time after she was intubated and had a chest tube in place. I was so comforted.

“Every peak and valley that we went through in our two-week stay was filled with kind, amazing people. We were fortunate to be able to have such caring staff. Love to all who work so tirelessly at their jobs. The picture was taken almost exactly a year after Aspyn was admitted to PCMC. Now she's dancing through life again.”

Community rallies to save ducklings

Janice B.

“When the Peters family got home from church on Sunday they could hear some sounds coming from their storm drain. They looked around and saw a mother duck. They thought the sound was her ducklings.

“Not knowing what to do they called the West Jordan Fire Department. They arrived in moments and a fireman named Todd knew just what to do. He got six ducklings out of the drain and reunited them with their mother.

“Upon arriving home, the father could hear another one in the drain. He heroically got the little duck out of the drain and took it to be reunited with the others.”

Strangers help reunite dog with owner

Darlene L.

“I recently rescued a dog and she came with a lot of fear and hurt from her first six or seven years. I took her out to get my mail and she broke away from me and all she could do was run from me and people trying to help. A sweet neighbor joined in the chase, but I just couldn't keep up. I went one way and apparently, the dog ran the other way. When I started to return home, the neighbor came up to me and told me they had caught (my dog) and put her in my house. She told me strangers were stopping and helping, they were stopping cars and getting out to help. I could not be more grateful to these strangers that stopped to help.”

A sweet birthday gift

Ryan B.

“It was my son's third birthday over the weekend. I took him to Sam's Club in Layton to pick up a birthday cake. Two members from Operation Bald Eagle were in front of the store looking for donations to support our local military and emergency responder families. I had stopped because their truck had a large American flag decal and my son always loves to see our flag.

“I had mentioned that we were here to get a birthday cake for his birthday and one of the guys asked me if he likes military gear. I responded with a ‘yes’ with some reservation, not knowing exactly where this question was going. He went into the truck and he came out with a gift. I was thinking it was going to be a bumper sticker or a small American flag. He came out with a beautiful teddy bear dressed in an Air Force jumpsuit. I could not believe this gift! I was hesitant to accept since I had nothing to give in return but he insisted that I keep it. He wished my son a happy birthday and sent us on our way. It was the best gift we received all weekend.”
