1. Russell Westbrook's insane through-the-legs assist

College basketball wasn’t the only thing going on Thursday. While most of us were pondering the craziness of what was the Northwestern-Vanderbilt ending at Vivint Arena, Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook was blowing minds with this crazy through-the-legs pass in NBA action Thursday night.

Westbrook makes a 30-foot cross-court pass that goes through the legs of Toronto Raptors guard Cory Joseph and to Thunder Victor Oladipo for a layup.

The Thunder also went on to win the game 123-102. Westbrook finished the game with another triple-double: 24 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes.

2. Raiders QB Derek Carr helps man stranded after car runs out of gas

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr may have unintentionally converted an old San Francisco 49ers fan with a simple act of kindness.

The man, Ron Reeser, told KTVU in Oakland that he had run out of gas when a man asked if he needed a ride to the nearest gas station. Unaware that the man offering the ride was Carr, the two men talked about their careers and Carr told Reeser, who is a DJ and music producer, that he came from Texas to play football at Fresno State and then moved to the Bay Area.

At some point, Reeser realized that he was talking to the Raiders’ starting quarterback. He said the two exchanged contact information and Carr, who mentioned he would like to become a pastor after his football career ends, offered a prayer before the two parted ways.

"It re-instilled faith in me that people can still be good Samaritans and do nice things for people without any expectations, regardless of your stature, who you are or what you do for a living,” Reeser told KTVU.

Reeser said he grew up a 49ers fan, but the encounter with Carr may have changed his mind.

3. Minor league team’s awesome barbecue logo

For one night only this year, the Triple-A Charlotte Knights will become the Charlotte Pitmasters and it includes a logo featuring a "mustachioed pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw hair,” according to MLB.com’s Cut 4.

The switch to the Pitmasters will occur on July 15 and includes a completely different uniform for the game.

Charlotte isn’t the only Triple-A team switching their logo and mascot for food at some point this season. The Fresno Grizzlies announced earlier this year it will be the Fresno Tacos for every Tuesday home game this season.
