Protests spill into Salt Lake streets, decrying police violence, racism

More than 300 protesters turned out for the larger, more emotional rally Saturday evening. The group shut down roads including State Street and drew onlookers from restaurants and businesses as they marched, calling out chants of "Black lives matter," condemning police brutality in Utah and across the country and decrying racism.

Police arrest third suspect after Santa Clara man's disappearance

A third person has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of David Corey Heisler, who went missing from his Santa Clara home last month.

Tammy Renee Freeman, 54, of Washington City, was arrested at her home Saturday and booked into the Washington County Jail for investigation of aggravated burglary, motor vehicle theft and aggravated kidnapping, according to Santa Clara-Ivins police officer Chad Holt.

Body of 59-year-old man found on Riverdale Parkway

The body of a man was found on the Riverdale Parkway on Saturday afternoon.

A bicyclist discovered the body while riding on the Riverdale Parkway just before 3 p.m., according to Riverdale Police Lt. Casey Warren. The deceased man is described as a 59-year-old man and is known to be a transient in the area, according to police.

Police ID man killed in early morning Kearns shooting

A 24-year-old West Valley man is dead following a shooting early Sunday morning, police said.

Former Cedar City mayor, SUU President Gerald Sherratt dies

Gerald R. Sherratt, former Cedar City mayor and Southern Utah University president, died Friday. He was 84.

“He was the greatest promoter the university ever had,” said Scott Wyatt, current SUU president. “His mark is everywhere on campus, the city and the state.”
