SALINA, Sevier County — 6-year-old Tucker Sorensen was flown to Primary Children's Hospital after being hit by a motorcycle Monday.

Police said Tuesday evening that the boy was taken off life support and died from his injuries. Communities members identified the boy as Tucker Sorensen.

Longtime Salina resident Diana Lambertsen knows both families and said her heart aches for everyone involved.

"I just know how it would make me feel as a mother on both sides," Lambertsen said. "It was tragic. There's going to be suffering for everyone in the community."

About 6:20 p.m. Monday, two teens were riding motorcycles near 400 South and 300 East when the boy "stepped out in front of the motorcycles. The drivers of the motorcycles did not see the boy step into the road, and one of them struck him," according to Salina police officer Greg Harwood.

Bystanders immediately went to the boy's aid and performed CPR. He was taken by emergency responders to Sevier Valley Hospital and then flown to Primary Children's Hospital.

The boy's injuries were critical at the time he was transported, Harwood said.

Police believe it was an accident and are not sure if charges will be filed against the teen on the bike. The crash is still under investigation.

The family has a GoFundMe account* for those who wish to donate.
