WASHINGTON TERRACE, Weber County — Investigators say the fatal shooting of a man in a nursing home was "probably" a suicide.

But the extent of the involvement of the man's brother was still being investigated Friday.

Joseph Tribe Henderson, 68, of Ogden, suffered a gunshot wound to his chest Thursday while he was at the Washington Terrace Nursing Home.

Henderson, a patient at the facility, had been battling "numerous medical problems," said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Lane Findlay, though he did not know exactly what Henderson was suffering from.

Henderson's brother was also in the room at the time of the shooting.

"The death is still being classified as suspicious, but it appears it was probably a suicide," Findlay said.

Investigators learned that the brother had brought the gun to the room. Whether he was asked by Henderson to bring the gun was not known Friday.

Even if investigators conclude in their final report that Henderson's death was the result of suicide, Findlay said detectives also want to determine to what extent his brother was involved. The case would then be turned over to the Weber County Attorney's Office to determine whether any criminal charges are warranted.

Findlay said the brother has been cooperative with investigators.

Editor's Note: Police originally said the victim was 65. His age has been corrected to 68.
