ACROSS THE WEB — Minor league baseball teams have been known to come up with a variety of promotional efforts throughout the season.

But change their name? That's new.

One of the Salt Lake Bees' PCL rivals may or may not be rebranding, but their alternate uniforms are among the best in the sports business.

Also in today's roundup, U.S. international striker Jozy Altidore tipped off a sequel to a much-loved sports movie from the '90s, and a former Salt Lake City prep soccer standout shines against a team that technically plays in England's Premier League.

Welcome to the PCL, Fresno … Tacos

Minor league baseball's Fresno Grizzlies will honor the community's annual Taco Truck Night with a unique nod to an event that has become an institution in the Fresno area.

For the Grizzlies' game Aug. 6 against the Sacramento RiverCats, the team will temporarily take to the field as the Fresno Tacos, complete with taco-themed flatbills and orange-and-teal colored Taco uniforms.

"The event started with seven trucks and 7,977 tacos in 2011 and had grown to 19 trucks and 27,222 tacos sold in 2014. It deserved a fitted cap," Yahoo Sports' Mike Ozz writes. "Taco lovers in Fresno deserved a fitted cap. And taco-obsessed Internet people, they'd like it too."

Other ideas for Grizzlies' promotional efforts include Chipotle Chicken Monday, Habanero Wednesday and Hot Sauce Friday.

Cuban stars in latest 'Sharknado' flick

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has been applauded for his work with the North Texas NBA team, applying many of his business principles to operating a pro sports team and gaining success.

He showed off another potential career with the Wednesday night debut of Sharknado 3.

Cuban plays the President of the United States in the flick, which led many on social media to call for him to join the crowded field already running for the Republican nomination.

If nothing else, we learned Cuban is a pretty good shot.

Jozy already knew

LeBron James signed a contract to work with Warner Bros. on Wednesday, setting the Internet on fire with rumors of a much-anticipated sequel to Michael Jordan's classic Looney Tunes movie "Space Jam."

Everyone was surprised to hear the announcement.

Well, almost everyone.

U.S. men's national team forward Jozy Altidore apparently already knew. Altidore appeared at a recent Toronto FC media opportunity wearing what appears to be a hat with the rumored films' logo — or something akin to it.

At the present time, KSL Sports can neither confirm nor deny that Altidore has been cast as the star power forward for the new MonStars.

Former Bengal leads Timbers 2 past Prem's Newcastle

Brighton High graduate Taylor Peay is having quite the season in his second year with Major League Soccer's Portland Timbers.

His biggest moment may have come Tuesday night with the Timbers' third-division affiliate.

Peay scored the critical third goal to help Timbers 2 down Premier League team Newcastle United 4-3 at Providence Park in Portland.

Peay whipped in a shot from a corner kick to put T2 up 3-1, and the American lower-division side held off the visitors for the win.

It's common for teams from England to tour the United States and play international friendlies against other European competition, as well as MLS teams that can attract the biggest crowd. But Tuesday's match was unique in that it was played between a team that finished 15th in the vaunted Premiership and a squad currently in seventh place in USL's Western Conference.

On the same night, Barcelona beat defending MLS champion L.A. Galaxy 2-1 in front of more than 93,000 fans at the Rose Bowl. Reports suggest Leo Messi and friends will advance to play Galaxy II at the L.A. Coliseum next week.
