SALT LAKE CITY — Sometimes the smallest acts can give you a different perspective on the world.

Maybe your boss set a good example or maybe, like in the story below, people come together to help a local business.

Each week, people share stories of times that touched their hearts and made their week.

On giving and receiving:

Barbara C.

"Last month, the taco vendor on Broadway had his little truck tip over as it was being towed to set up for the day. It lay halfway in the street with the oil draining all over the street. Several people stopped and tried to help, but nothing could be done. Emergency services came and blocked off the road so that cars could be stopped. Ten men came from the Heber Wells building and picked up the truck to right it. This was amazing to see these men just show up and work together to help this small vendor. Losing one entire day worth of revenue must have been hard. But it was great to see help come.

"The next day, the vendor was out on Broadway with his taco truck when a lady was walking across the road and missed seeing the step and fell hard onto the roadway. She scraped her legs, arms and face. The vendor hurried over to help her up. Then he got her towels to wipe up the blood and brought her bags of ice to help with her wounds. He stayed with her making sure she was okay until she was calm enough to go on her way.

"It was so nice to see help coming and being given by this small taco vendor."

On recognizing a parent's effort:

"I took my mom out to dinner for her birthday. We had recently come back from vacation and we had been doing a lot of running around and my 10 1/2 month old children were tired and louder than usual. I always worry about dining out and making other patrons have a less-than-desirable experience. One family who was seated near us left this note with a server as they walked out the door. I always unable to thank them, but this made my day!"

On the difference $50 can make:

Sarah N.

"When I was getting a divorce from my abusive husband, I was having a terrible day. I was having financial trouble and the abuse hadn't stopped, it just changed modalities. I went to the fabric store to try to calm down and touch the fabric — I couldn't afford anything, I couldn't even pay the bills. I just broke down in tears.

"A woman came up to me and asked me what was wrong, but I couldn't tell her, words wouldn't come out of my mouth, I just cried. She told me she was a Lutheran and gave me $50. That $50 went a long way towards easing my burden, financially, spiritually, and emotionally. I wish I could thank her."
