SALT LAKE CITY — A parked minivan was engulfed in fire Thursday morning in a suspected arson case.
The minivan was fully involved with fire near 900 South and 600 West when crews from the Salt Lake City Fire Department arrived, according to spokesman Jasen Asay. He said a Subaru, which was parked in front of the minivan, also sustained heat damage.
“From what we understand, both vehicles were just parked on the side of the street,” he said. “We had a 911 caller who called and said she witnessed a person putting gasoline on the vehicle and starting it on fire.”
The Salt Lake City Police Department had a suspect in custody Thursday morning, Asay said. Arson investigators from the fire department are working with police.
