CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Iron County Sheriff's Office deputies added some extra charges after a suspect threatened a service dog and head butted its kennel.

The Spectrum of St. George reports that the man was arrested on charges of manufacture, distribution or possession of unlawful substance, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, criminal trespassing and six counts of causing injury to a police animal.

Deputies say after the man was apprehended, the arresting officer told the suspect his service dog might bark. The suspect responded by saying he would "snort" the dog. He later began head butting the dog's in-car kennel and threatening to kill the animal. The suspect reportedly continued screaming at the animal as he was transported to Valley View Medical Center.

He is being held in Iron County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
