WAYNE COUNTY — A tanker truck carrying 10,000 gallons of diesel fuel rolled on state Route 24 on Sunday morning, spilling fuel on the highway.
The driver told authorities he slightly went off the road coming down a hill, causing the tank trailer to fishtail before it rolled over about 8:15 a.m., according to Wayne County spokeswoman Kassidee Brown. It leaked an estimated 600 gallons of fuel.
The truck driver was wearing his seat belt and didn't appear to be injured. An ambulance transported him to Sevier County Hospital for more evaluation, Brown said.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the Sevier County Fire Department and hazmat team and the Utah Highway Patrol were on the scene to investigate and clean up the spill.
