OGDEN, Utah (AP) — An Ogden man is dead after his truck crashed into the Weber River near the Devil's Slide formation.
Authorities say 33-year-old Joseph Stakely died after he lost control of the truck while speeding west on Interstate 84 late Wednesday or early Thursday.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Chris Simmons says Stakely overcorrected and the pickup truck vaulted off the road, crashed into a railroad bridge and came to rest in the river. It was found by two fishermen Thursday morning.
The Ogden Standard Examiner reports Stakely was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. He was the only person in the car.
