OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A defense attorney says an Ogden man accused in the death of his girlfriend's 14-month-old daughter plans to take a plea deal in the case.
Lawyer Martin Gravis said during a Wednesday court hearing in Ogden that 24-year-old Adam Joseph Barney will enter a guilty plea at an appearance set for next week.
Prosecutors say Kenzie Rose La Buy started crying when Barney was watching her and other children in August while their mother was at work. Police say Barney told investigators he snapped, punching and squeezing her.
The Standard Examiner of Ogden reports that Barney is charged with murder and faces life in prison if convicted.
