WEBER COUNTY — Multiple robberies by the same person or group of people are being investigated Sunday night in Weber County, police say.
The first incident was a reported robbery overnight, according to Lt. Jake Sube of the Ogden Police Dept. Sube said a driver was parked at a store near 137 Southwell St. in Ogden when he heard a noise outside his window. The driver was then confronted by an individual wearing a black hoodie, with a black bandana covering his face. The individual appeared to have a handgun, and demanded items from the victim. The victim complied, at which point the subject fled, Sube said.
The second incident, which police believe is related, took place close to the first at a Harrisville Walmart.
A male and a female subject entered the store and attempted to use a credit card, according to Max Jackson, Harrisville police chief. Jackson said it is uncertain whether the card in question was stolen during the previous incident, but the card was denied due to being maxed out. The subjects then left the store and approached the eventual victim.
The victim, who had seen their card get rejected in the Walmart, went to his car to get a cigarette upon the request of the male subject. The male subject then put a silver gun to the victim’s head and demanded his wallet, Jackson said.
The male and female subjects, accompanied by another male who was driving, were last seen in a gold Ford Explorer with a roof rack and sunroof, with a body style from 1995 to 2001.
The individual at the Walmart has been described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-8, 195 lbs, with a mustache. Images of both the reported vehicle and the subjects are included in the photo gallery.
