SALT LAKE CITY — A man who allegedly shot and killed another man while attending a party in the Millcreek area has been charged.
Ahmed Sharif-Mohamed Ali, 29, of Millcreek, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with criminal homicide, a first-degree felony.
On Feb. 22, several people were attending a party at 1509 E. 3350 South. Ali got into an argument with Modibo Diallo, 33, of Murray, according to charging documents.
"The defendant reached behind his back, removed a silver handgun from his waistband and fired the gun at Modibo Diallo," the charges state.
After Diallo fell to the ground, Ali "walked up to him, stood over him and fired another shot into Modibo Diallo," court records state.
Police tracked Ali down to a garage about three blocks away. Detectives said he was randomly knocking on doors looking for a place to hide before breaking into a garage. Unified police's SWAT team surrounded the residence and Ali surrendered about three hours later.
Bail was set at $1 million.
