MIDWAY — Utah winters can seem bleak after the holiday fun is over, but three scenic snowshoe hikes may be something to look forward to during the cold months.

Friends of Wasatch Mountain State Park is sponsoring three full-moon snowshoe hikes early next year, according to a news release.

Hikers will suit-up at 6:30 p.m. at the Park Visitors Center at 1281 S. Warm Springs Road Jan. 2, 30 and March 6, snow permitting.

“If you can walk, you can learn to snowshoe,” Kathy Donnell said in a press release. “There will be beginner, intermediate and advanced hikes, and people of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.”

Participants 8 years and older can register for the event by calling the visitors center at 435-654-1791.

Registration fills up fast, so Wasatch Mountain State Park encourages people to sign up early. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Seven dollars will buy one entry, and snowshoe rentals are available for $6 a pair. Participants are asked to bring cash or a check to the visitors center the night of the events, and all proceeds will go toward improving park facilities, programs and trails.

Light refreshments will be served after the hikes.
