POCATELLO, IDAHO — Weber State football will not end the season on a three-game winning streak.

Instead, Weber will equal last season’s win total with two after a 46-28 loss to Idaho State Saturday.

The Wildcats had a chance entering the fourth quarter, but struggled defensively in the final 15 minutes.

The instant observations are typical of the season, but reflect a few interesting nuances.

The Good: Bo Bolen ------------------

Bolen finished his career at Weber State with 137 yards and a touchdown. His career illustrates the emotional rollercoaster the Wildcats endured, and his toughness and focus on winning is respectable under the circumstances he’s been dealt.

Bolen finished the season with 280 rushing yards and two touchdowns in his final two games.

The Bad: Turnovers and penalties

Weber State turned the ball over twice in the game, both on interceptions. Also, the Wildcats earned 104 yards in penalties. Simply put, no team can win on the road with those numbers.

The Ugly: Defense

Idaho State gained 655 yards of total offense, and quarterback Justin Arias passed for 322 yards and three touchdowns. The Weber defense intercepted Arias twice, but it was too little to stem the tide. Bengals tailback Daniel McSurdy also rushed for 266 yards.
