DUCHESNE — State wildlife officers are seeking the public's help to solve a poaching case in Duchesne County.
A buck mule deer was illegally killed on Oct. 5 near Farnsworth Canal just south of Moon Lake, according to Division of Wildlife Resources investigator Sean Davis. There was no open deer season in the area at the time the animal was killed, he said.
The deer was shot with a small caliber firearm, Davis said. Its head and hide were left behind. The antlers and carcass have not been found.
Conservation officers are looking for two men in a dull gray or white Ford pickup truck who were seen in the area and may have information about the incident.
A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for killing the deer. Requests for confidentiality will be honored, Davis said.
