OGDEN — An Ogden man suspected of shooting and critically injuring another man last week was shot and killed by police officers Tuesday outside his home.
The shooting at 147 N. Harrison Blvd. was reported about 5 p.m. Christopher James Roskelley, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ogden Police Lt. Danielle Croyle said multiple shots were fired at an armed Roskelley, but she did not provide details about the confrontation.
Croyle said Roskelley was "known to police" as a suspect in what investigators said was a homicide attempt on Thursday that left a 35-year-old man in critical condition when he was shot multiple times near 851 24th St.
Police said last week the gunman in that shooting fled the scene in a white sedan.
Harrison Boulevard was closed near the scene Tuesday as police investigated, including a careful search of a white car parked in the driveway.
Neighbors reported hearing as many as seven gunshots and believed officers had been watching Roskelley's home for several days. Taylor Palmer, who lives across the street, watched from her window as officers swarmed the car in the driveway as Roskelley apparently returned home.
Palmer said she saw one man lying on the ground and another who was caught by police as he tried to run.
"It was really scary," she said "We saw officers drag one person out in handcuffs and threw him in the back of the cop car."
The Weber County Attorney's Office will investigate the shooting.
A search of court records indicates that Roskelley pleaded guilty in 2005 to forging a prescription for a controlled substance. He was also found guilty on DUI related charges in 2001.
