WEST VALLEY CITY — Salt Lake Unified Police said Tuesday they have a man in custody they believe returned a toddler to her mother last week.

Jamie Webb was wanted by police after evading a warrant for his arrest for charges related to an aggravated assault, Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal said in a press release Tuesday evening.

On May 6, UPD issued an Endgangered Missing Advisory for a 15-month-old Sophea Larsen who was thought to be in Webb's care.

"A court order was issued to take the child from Webb and turn Larsen over to her mother," Hoyal said. "Larsen was found and turned over to her mother uninjured, but Webb was still on the run. He had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault."

After Webb dropped Sophea off at a relative's house, police said he evaded arrest until Tuesday evening, when an officer saw Webb pulled over on the side of the road near 4000 West in West Valley.

"He had pulled over to make a phone call," Hoyal said. "Detectives stopped and took him into custody. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on his outstanding warrant."
