(CNN) — Jury selection for Jodi Arias' penalty phase retrial will begin September 8, according to a tweet Monday from the official account of Maricopa County (Arizona) Superior Court.

Arias was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2013 for brutally stabbing and shooting her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

This new panel of jurors will not reconsider her murder conviction but will focus on whether Arias should face life in prison or the death penalty. The jury that determined Arias' guilt in May was unable to reach a unanimous decision regarding her punishment.

A mini-trial is expected to take place to help get the new jurors caught up on the case before they make their decision. The judge has ruled that this new penalty phase will not be televised, but CNN, HLN's sister network, has filed a motion to allow cameras in the courtroom.

Arias was present for the Monday hearing, where she wore black-and-white prison stripes.

Another hearing in Arias' case, which will be sealed, has been set for April 11.
