SOUTH JORDAN – Police are hoping the sound of a man’s voice will help them identify the robber wanted for two armed robberies of the same convenience store.

On Jan. 14, a man wearing a dark hoodie and covering his face with a bandana entered a Maverik on 10419 S. 2700 West. The man removed a handgun from his waistband and demanded money from the clerk, police said. After he was given an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the scene on foot.

Jan. 18, the robber again entered the Maverik store and demanded money, though he did not brandish a weapon. He was again wearing a bandana over his face, as well as a navy and orange knitted hat. The clerk gave the man money and cartons of Camel brand cigarettes before fleeing the store, according to police.

Police have released audio and video recordings of the incidents, saying the man’s “distinctive” voice may be a key factor in identifying the robber.

The man is considered by police as armed an dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Jordan Police Department at 801-840-4000.
