ROY — A police officer received minor injuries after rescuing a person from a house fire Saturday evening.
A house at 3965 S. 2025 West caught fire Saturday evening with two residents inside, according to the Roy City police. One of the residents was able to exit the house unharmed, but the other occupant couldn't evacuate by himself, police said.
A Roy City officer was dispatched to the scene of the fire and was able to locate the victim and carry him out of the house. The officer and male victim suffered from smoke inhalation and singed hair and were treated at a hospital.
Police also reported that ammunition was located in the basement and began to discharge during the rescue operation as a result of the fire.
The home was severely damaged in the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and an investigation is underway.
