SALT LAKE CITY — The birth of a child is a special occasion for all parents, but one baby born Thursday marked a one in a million occasion.

Denyse and Matthew Seppanen arrived at St. Marks Hospital Thursday morning ready for the birth of their third child.

"I got up and my wife rushed me out of the house," Matthew said. "We had so many things going on to getting ready, I don't think either of us realized it was 8-8."

Their daughter, Paige Campbell was born not only on August 8, but also at exactly 8:08 a.m. And to add to the phenomenon, the baby weighed exactly 8 pounds 8 ounces.

"All the attendees and doctors in the operating room went nuts," Matthew said.

"I think it's hysterical," Denyse said. "And you know what is funny to me? Eight has always been my favorite number."

However, the Seppanens say that the theme of "8" will end with the events of Thursday.

"We're definitely not going to have eight kids," Matthew said.

Matthew and Denyse said that they already feel lucky with the birth of a healthy baby girl, but their family and friends are telling them to put their luck to the test.

"They keep saying, 'Go buy a lottery ticket and play the lottery tonight,' " Denyse said.

The parents said that they will plan something big for Paige's 8th birthday.
