WEBER COUNTY — A major methamphetamine bust landed more than a dozen people behind bars and removed hundreds of thousands of dollars in drugs from the street.
The drug bust is the result of a yearlong investigation by the FBI and Weber Morgan Narcotics Strike Force across Utah and even into Wyoming.
About three pounds of drugs and around $400,000 in cash and assets have been seized, according to police. Narcotics officers arrested 14 people in connection with the bust.
Police said these dealers and distributors supplied the drugs all along the Wasatch front from Cache to Utah County.
This investigation started in the little town of Uintah on the south end of Weber County. Narcotics agents said they started monitoring the activity of Shane Dale Osborn back in 2012. Investigators said Osborn was a main distributor for sellers in the Northern part of the state and Evanston, Wyoming.
They were able to identify various levels of the organization from there.
Jessica Garlick, a homeowner in Uintah, said she suspected something was going on in her neighborhood.
"We've seen some unusual activity, a lot of things going on at night, lights on and a lot of social activity at night," Garlick said.
Several agencies were involved in serving five search warrants overnight, including Ogden, West Jordan, the Weber County Sheriff's Office and Utah State Highway Patrol. Narcotics agents said this is a sizeable bust and should take a lot of product off the streets.
More arrests are expected.
