PROVO — Brandon Doman is well known throughout the state for his role as a former BYU quarterback, BYU offensive coordinator and a member of the San Francisco 49ers. But he is also a father. Doman sat down with KSL to talk about his special role as a father and his life experiences.

"Growing up in my house was quite the experience," Doman said. "I was the youngest of four boys. I wasn't fast and I certainly wasn't as competitive as they were — I just wasn't as intense."

Doman said he was always taught to believe that "if your mind can conceive it and your heart can believe it, then you could achieve it."

As the years went on, Doman said he started to grow and ended up becoming a successful athlete.

"If there's one principle that I'd want to teach my children, is that you try as hard as you can and always believe."

"They were by far my biggest fans," Doman said of his family.

Following the end of his playing career, Doman said he was suddenly faced with many decisions.

"Here I was a father, a husband — I had five kids. I knew there (were) going to be some critical decisions I needed to make," Doman said. "I realized this was a time and this was a chance with my kids — it's pretty darn impressionable ages — to focus on them.

"What's important to me is that I have the opportunity to spend time with my kids, my wife and be home," Doman continued. "If there's one principle that I'd want to teach my children, is that you try as hard as you can and always believe."
