WOODS CROSS — A motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital by medical helicopter after sustaining "life-threatening injuries" following a collision with another motorcycle on I-15 shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Ed Michaud, two motorcyclists were traveling north together on I-15. They apparently collided with one another as they attempted to exit the interstate at 2600 South.
Michaud said the motorcyclists were attempting to "negotiate around other traffic" when the accident occurred. The driver of the second motorcycle received only minor injuries and traveled by private vehicle to seek medical attention.
The accident remains under investigation, but it appears neither rider was wearing a helmet, the trooper said.
"It appears the other traffic may not have been aware of motorcycles' presence or that they were trying to change lanes," Michaud said.
He urged drivers to "be aware of motorcycles using the freeway with them. They're kind of vulnerable out there."
