SALT LAKE CITY — Voter registration is coming to a close in Utah.

State officials say Monday is the last day for state residents to register to vote in the upcoming election.

Mail-in registration has already ended, but residents can still sign up online at www.vote.utah.gov , or in person at a county clerk's office.

To register, a person must be at least 18 years old by election day, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of Utah for at least 30 days before the election.

Many procrastinators decided to take advantage of the Salt Lake County voter registration drive-thru. At the Salt Lake County government center, drivers had the convenience of sitting in their car as they filled out their address and other voter info as they registered.

"I decided, why not? I've voted every election, so I figured I might as well vote this time," said one registrant.

James Montgomery was pumped up to register because this will be his fist time at the ballot box.

"I have the same birthday as George Washington, which is pretty cool," Montgomery said. "But I'm really excited to be a part of America instead of just living here."

For those who are already registered in Utah, early voting machines are being set up. People can register online until the day is through.
