CEDAR CITY — The cornerback who started in Southern Utah University's Homecoming heartbreaker Saturday was arrested later that night on suspected theft and assault.

Tyree Mills, 21, was booked into Iron County Jail at 11:30 p.m. Saturday after his arrest by SUU police. Mills was released Sunday on a $1,510 bond in connection with the misdemeanor offenses, according to jail records.

A dispatcher for the university's police force said the agency would not provide information about the incident until Monday. The dispatcher would not confirm whether the arrest was made on campus.

Mills had an interception and 21-yard return in the 24-17 loss to Montana State. Most of his player biography appeared to have been removed from the Thunderbird Athletics website as of Sunday. He joined the team as a walk-on player in spring 2010.

University Officials declined to comment Sunday.
