SANDY — A man who gave a young girl at home alone a scare when he entered her house in May has been arrested.
Daniel Sloan Bonito, 26, was charged with aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a second-degree felony Friday.
Bonito allegedly entered the Jensen home on Quail Run Dr. on May 11. Cailee Jensen, 11, was home alone watching TV and around 2:30 p.m. went to the kitchen to get a snack. There, she noticed Bonito, who had entered through the unlocked back door.
She reached for her cell phone, but Bonito knocked it from her hand, held a gun to her chest and told her not to place any calls.
Cailee escaped Bonito, and ran to a neighbor's home, where she called police, with whom she provided a description.
When police investigated the home, a blue and white bandana that didn't belong to the family was taken in for DNA processing. Multiple tips and leads pointed to Bonito, whose DNA was also found on the cloth.
Bonito is currently incarcerated at the Utah State Prison on other charges.
