SANDY — Much like the up and downs it has faced this season, Real Salt Lake's victory early this week over Panamanian club Tauro FC was a victory the Claret and Cobalt needed — but it wasn’t without a loss that has potential to hurt over the next few weeks.

Tuesday’s meeting was the second time the two clubs had met and the lone goal in the 1-0 win unfortunately followed a play that led to an injury to RSL's leading scorer, Costa Rican striker Alvaro Saborio.

Saborio landed on his shoulder Tuesday night after going down on a tackle that gave the Claret and Cobalt a penalty-kick opportunity — and ultimately the win — but immediately after hitting the ground, Saborio grabbed his shoulder and then again following his penalty kick goal.

Wednesday RSL tweeted that prior to further evaluation after returning to Salt Lake, Saborio had suffered a “2nd degree AC sprain” to his right shoulder.

With no official announcement from the club as to how long Saborio could be out, the club's five remaining Major League Soccer regular-season matches in the next month could be without their star striker.

Although the Claret and Cobalt is now in a better position in its Champions League group to host Herediano in one month for the final 2012-13 CCL match the club will see this year, Saborio won’t see the pitch in that match either due to yellow card accumulation.

However, Tuesday night's win wasn’t the only good news the club saw; the return of RSL defender Jamison Olave was also on the ticket.

The club had gone seven matches without the 6-foot-3-inch Colombian while he battled injury and worked to return.

Olave returned to the pitch after suffering an injury in a July 31 match at Herediano.
