SALT LAKE CITY 𔔌 It is the game before the game.

Fans line up in parking lots cooking up food and fun to get into the spirit. And every year, the tailgating party outside Rice-Eccles Stadium seems like it gets a little bigger. A lot of these fans say if you're going to tailgate, you have to do it right, and that means setting up before at 9 a.m.

Though the two teams are no longer in the same conference, and they meet much earlier in the season, this is still a game that means a lot.

"It's a great time up here. Everybody comes up and hangs out. Blast. Best thing ever," said Utes fan Braxton Robertson.

When your "property" is called "Uteland," and it's smack dab in the middle of tailgating before the big game, it's supposed to be a great time.

"It's all about the rivalry," said Mike Miller, who also roots for Utah, who spent the whole day roasting a pig for hungry Utah fans.

Tiffany Bruett is part of a group that has won three Crimson Club awards for best Utah Utes tailgating. Her silver football and big spatula are first-place awards winners. She's serious about tailgating, and about football.

"We're moving on to bigger and better things," Bruett said. "We're in the PAC 12. Why would I want to bother myself with the TDS? I just don't know."

TDS: the Team Down South, a saying made popular by former Utes head coach Urban Meyer when talking about BYU.

The game kicks of at 8 p.m. at the Rice Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah.
