WEST POINT — A late night shooting Saturday at a Davis County party left one man in serious but stable condition. He is now awake after being in a medically induced coma for about a day.

Karl Myles, 26, was booked into Davis County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault and possession of a stolen firearm, both second-degree felonies.

At about 8:30 p.m., police were called to the home at 412 N. 2000 West in West Point for a noise complaint, according to Davis County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Harper. About 30 people were there, all adults, some with small children. They complied with requests to quiet down, Harper said.

At around 10:09 p.m., police received multiple 911 calls about a possible shooting at the residence. Within one minute, officers from Clinton Police and Davis County Sheriff's office arrived. They saw what appeared to be a motor vehicle accident in front of the house where possible suspects had struck the vehicle of a local teen while fleeing the scene.

A Clinton officer saw the victim stumbling in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest and blunt force trauma to his head.

Police quickly began cardiac life support on the man, who is in his early 30s. He was later taken to a local hospital in extremely critical condition, Harper said.

Saturday night, police had the Myles in custody and were "trying to iron out if there are more." Several people at the scene were detained and taken to the West Point substation of the Sheriff's office for questioning. Police said later in a release that the man who hit the teen's car was found and is a friend of Myles.

Police also found a handgun stolen in Ogden discarded in the back yard of a residence, sheriffs said in a release.

The victim's name has not yet been released. Early indications are that the man in custody is a member of an Ogden-are gang, but this has not yet been confirmed, sheriffs said.

George Pandoff, father of the local teen hit by the fleeing individuals said they backed into the rear passenger side of his son's car while he was hanging out with some friends. His son was not harmed.

"I'm not really sure what I think of it," Pandoff said of the shooting. "You don't get up expecting it to happen."

Resident Don Charles Nebeker heard gun shots and was one of the folks who called 911. He said he was quite scared.

"The first (shot) made my heart pump a little bit," Nebeker said. "The second one really sent it racing."
