SALT LAKE CITY - While speculation and rumors surrounding whether Norm Chow would be Utah's offensive coordinator in 2011 have been going around for what seemed like weeks, many began to believe he really wasn't going to come.

He's coming to Utah... wait, now he's going to stay at UCLA. He's coming to Utah ... now he's going to the Seahawks to rejoin his former boss Pete Caroll.

To end the roller coaster of hype and emotion for Utah fans, Norm Chow IS coming to Utah to be their offensive coordinator for the 2011 season.

"Adding Norm Chow to our offensive staff was an opportunity that we couldn't pass up," said Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham.

"Adding Norm Chow to our offensive staff was an opportunity that we couldn't pass up," said Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham.

"Norm is widely considered one of the top offensive coordinators in the country and his experience at both USC and UCLA will aid us in our transition into the Pac-12 conference."

Saturday morning, UCLA announced that former San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike Johnson will be the Bruins' new offensive coordinator, replacing Norm Chow, which didn't get along too well with head coach Rick Neuheisel.

For Norm Chow, this will provide an opportunity to return to his alma mater. Chow was a two-year starter at offensive guard for the Utes (1965-67).

"I am awfully excited to be going back to my alma mater," said Chow. "The University of Utah is where I started my career. I met my wife there. How many people get to go back to their alma mater? This is an exciting day for me."

Tom Dienhart, a sports writer for Rivals.com, and Brian Swinney, with InsideTheUtes.com, first reported that the Utes would hire Norm Chow back on January 12th.
