DRAPER — This week's High 5 goes to two women who helped raise a lot of money for students at Draper Elementary School and encouraged the kids to get fit in the process.

No more old-school Scantron bubble sheets at this school. With state testing now on computers, Draper Elementary couldn't accommodate all its students, and funds for a second computer lab were put on hold.

Then two parents, Brenda Andrewsen and Erin Miller, went above and beyond to make things like a new computer lab a reality.

Jolynn Skousen of the Draper Elementary PTA said, "They just had a vision for Draper. We have earned more than double what we ever have earned any other year. They just decided let's shoot high and see what we can do."

Encouraging students to have a healthy lifestyle, Brenda and Erin started a presidential fitness program. As part of this program they decided the kids could earn money for a new computer lab by pledging to run a 5K.

PTA President Ashley Boyle said, "They've jumped in at this school and provided so many awesome activities for our kids, getting them healthy, getting them fit and gathering money for our school that we haven't had before." They set their sights on raising over $30,000.

After receiving her High 5, Erin said, "Thank you so much. This has been real fun to work with everyone at the school. We're glad that we could do it."

Brenda added, "It's been so great. We love this community and we love this school. This school is the best one around and we're glad to be here."

"They have put in thousands of hours just on their own with nobody making them do it. It's just been awesome," Boyle said.

Our High 5 partner, Les Schwab, rewarded the women for their efforts. If you'd like to nominate someone for a High 5, do that here.
